Back in 2013 I was privileged to shoot stills for the Fingerprint Productions documentary Love In Full Colour.
I shot the night of the Same Sex Formal in Melbourne, Australia. It was a hard gig for me at the time as I’d had major back surgery only a few months before. I was in pain and loaded up on painkillers but I really wanted to shoot that night because of the passion, enthusiasm and excitement of both the night and the documentary.
Suzi Taylor (Writer, Director, Executive Producer) had an expert crew to film and capture the experience of a group of young people at the formal. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation, adventure and inclusion.
I stood back, stopped shooting for a moment and watched the participants get ready- hair, makeup, outfits and setting up the venue. The ownership and pride in the event was both touching and inspiring. I captured the preparations, people arriving at the venue, the dancing, the performances, the film crew in action, the joy, the love, the thrill of the night.
I’m excited to tell you that after three years of following this group of young people the documentary is now finished and will be launched 3 December 2015 ! You can see the film trailer here and you can book tickets to the film launch here .
Heartfelt thanks to Suzi Taylor for including me in her project, the crew and the participants in the film. It was such a wonderful experience and I am so proud of all those involved in the film!
